In what ways does a guide dog really change and impact the life of a blind person? In this episode of the Guide Dog podcast, Maile George and her dad, Fred, share how Maile's life has been saved through the partnerships she's made, and continues to make, with guide dogs. In an effort to show his appreciation for all that Guide Dogs for the Blind has done for his daughter, Fred George volunteers as a docent on the San Rafael campus and shares stories of his work with tour groups and others. Maile offers advice for blind people considering getting a guide dog. "It's a lot easier to rely on a white cane," she says, "but there's nothing to compare with the love, devotion, protection and companionship of my guide dog."
